Battling the Elements: A Boat Refurbishment Odyssey

Ep 51 WEATHER WINDOWS on the hard - https://youtu.be/kibHtX7A7Sk

Greetings, fellow adventurers of the sea! Today, I invite you to join me on a journey fraught with challenges, triumphs, and a healthy dose of unpredictable weather. Ah, the joys of boat refurbishment!

My mission du jour? To sand away the remnants of decay and prepare the surface for a much-needed fiberglass repair. Armed with my trusty grinder, I set to work, only to encounter a myriad of pesky holes and crevices that defied easy removal.

Enter the humble Dremel tool, my dental assistant in this maritime dentist's chair. With meticulous precision, I excavated the stubborn remnants, akin to a dentist cleaning out a cavity. The goal? To create a clean canvas upon which to work my magic.

Next up? Epoxy, the hero of our tale. With a generous coat of epoxy primer, followed by a hearty mix of colloidal silica, I set about filling and shaping the voids, transforming them into smooth, contoured surfaces ripe for fiberglassing.

But wait—what's this? A weather warning, threatening to derail our progress once more. With temperatures plummeting and humidity soaring, the elements conspire against us, turning our workspace into a watery battleground.

Undeterred, I soldier on, sanding and shaping with a determination born of necessity. Despite the setbacks, progress is made. Old through-holes are removed, replaced by blank slates awaiting a new purpose.

As I survey the scene, surrounded by swampland and the distant rumble of passing motorcycles, I can't help but marvel at the resilience required to navigate these treacherous waters. Each project, a testament to our perseverance in the face of adversity.

And so, my fellow sailors, I bid you adieu for now. But fear not, for our journey is far from over. Join us on this tumultuous voyage, as we weather the storms and emerge stronger on the other side.

Until next time, fair winds and smooth sailing!
