A Day in the Boatyard: Making Progress.

Ep 55 Quick and easy mounting plates - https://youtu.be/8yrUZDoPBDQ

Ahoy, fellow sailors and sea lovers! Today, we're back in the boatyard, tackling a few projects and making strides toward our next adventure on the open water. Join us as we dive into the world of epoxy, fiberglass, and through-holes—all in a day's work for a boat owner.

Our first task of the day involves dealing with a couple of pesky through-holes that need a bit of attention. These small, 3/4-inch diameter holes have rounded edges on the inside, making it difficult to create a flat surface for mounting. But fear not, for we have a plan!

Armed with some heavy-duty biaxial cloth and a trusty batch of epoxy, we set to work creating custom fiberglass disks to flatten out those rounded edges. With precision and care, we lay down the cloth, saturating it with epoxy until it's just the right consistency. After a bit of folding, pressing, and weighting down, we're left with two perfect little disks ready for action.

Next up, it's time to tackle the through-holes themselves. Using our newly crafted disks as backing plates, we carefully position them over the holes, marking out the spots for our handles. With a steady hand and a bit of epoxy, we secure the disks in place, ensuring a snug fit and a smooth finish.

As we work, we're reminded of the importance of proper preparation and attention to detail. From double-gloving to prevent sticky situations to using floor coverings to catch any stray epoxy drips, every little step counts when it comes to boatyard work.

With the disks securely in place, we breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that another task is crossed off our list. And as we clean up our workspace and prepare for the next challenge, we're filled with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

But our work is far from over, dear readers. With each project completed, new opportunities—and new challenges—await on the horizon. So stay tuned for more updates from our boatyard adventures, and be sure to give us a thumbs up, subscribe to our channel, and consider becoming a patron to support our journey.

Until next time, fair winds and smooth sailing!
