A Day in the Boatyard: Family Adventures in Boat Restoration

Ep 43 Cutting holes in our sailboat - https://youtu.be/dL9ows96b18

Ahoy, sailors! Welcome back to our boatyard adventures, where we're giving you a glimpse into our world of nautical restoration. Today, it's just Katie and me on deck, braving the chilly winds to tackle some much-needed work on our beloved vessel.

As we rummage through our supplies, searching for tools and materials, laughter fills the air—a reminder that even the toughest tasks are better tackled with a sense of humor. With Liberty under the weather and Todd assisting our son in Utah, it's up to us to keep the boat afloat, quite literally!

The temperature may be dropping, but our spirits remain high as we dive into our tasks. Katie takes charge of organizing while I prepare to paint, determined to make progress despite the chilly conditions. But first, a surprise discovery—a forgotten chocolate bar tucked away in a corner. A sweet reward for our efforts, indeed!

Armed with sanders and paintbrushes, we press on, fueled by the promise of a job well done. But as we soon discover, sometimes the key to efficiency lies in the right tools. A chance encounter with fellow sailors leads us to the discovery of a magic tool—a six-inch orbital sander that promises to revolutionize our sanding game.

With Todd's return, our team is reunited, ready to tackle the next challenge: replacing through-holes. Armed with drills and saws, we set out to conquer the fiberglass barriers that stand in our way. It's a messy job, but one that must be done to ensure our boat remains seaworthy.

As we work, our youngest crew members lend a hand, their enthusiasm and curiosity a welcome distraction from the tedious task at hand. Amidst the chaos of the boatyard, their laughter and energy remind us of the joy of family adventures.

Despite setbacks and challenges, we press on, fueled by the knowledge that each task completed brings us one step closer to our goal. And as the sun sets on another day in the boatyard, we reflect on the camaraderie, determination, and sense of adventure that defines our journey.

Join us next time as we continue our quest to restore our boat to its former glory. And remember, no matter the obstacles we face, with a little laughter and a lot of determination, anything is possible on the high seas!
